Maintenance

Your Site, Looked After

Software doesn't maintain itself. We handle the updates, fixes, and improvements so you can focus on running the business.

Problems we solve

  • Outdated dependencies creating security vulnerabilities in your site or platform
  • Bugs that go unfixed for weeks because no one owns them
  • Performance degradation over time as the site grows and nobody's watching
  • Small content and feature changes getting stuck waiting on a developer who has to context-switch back in
  • Not knowing if your site is up, fast, and working without manually checking

What's included

  • Dedicated point of contact — no ticketing system roulette
  • Monthly dependency and security updates
  • Bug fixes included — no surprise invoices for small issues
  • Performance monitoring and proactive alerts
  • Up to N hours of development per month (agreed upfront per tier)
  • Monthly summary of work done and anything we noticed

Ideal for

  • Businesses with a live website or platform that needs to stay healthy
  • Teams that don't have in-house developers but need ongoing technical support
  • Companies that inherited a site or platform they don't fully understand yet
  • Anyone who has been burned by a site going down with no one to call

What a Maintenance Retainer Covers

Every retainer covers the basics: keeping your software up to date, fixing bugs when they appear, and monitoring that everything is working. Beyond that, the scope is agreed upfront based on what your project needs.

Bug fixes: When something breaks, it gets fixed. No billing discussion, no back-and-forth. That’s what the retainer is for.

Dependency updates: Outdated packages are a security risk. We run updates, test them, and ship them on a regular cadence — not when there’s already a problem.

Performance monitoring: We set up monitoring for uptime, load time, and error rates. You get notified when something is wrong; ideally we catch it first.

Development hours: Depending on your tier, retainers include a block of development time each month for small feature additions, content updates, or improvements. Hours don’t roll over — they reset monthly. If you need more in a given month, we can agree on it.

Taking Over Sites We Didn’t Build

We maintain sites and platforms we didn’t build. Every inherited project starts with a brief onboarding audit — we need to understand what we’re taking on before committing to SLAs. Most projects are straightforward. Occasionally we find issues that need addressing before we can make reliability guarantees.

We’ll tell you what we found in plain language, not technical jargon.

Commitment and Terms

Retainers are monthly, with a three-month minimum for new clients. After the initial period, it’s month-to-month with 30 days’ notice to cancel. We’ve found three months is the minimum runway to actually understand a project well enough to be useful.

No long-term lock-in. No surprise invoices for things covered by the retainer.

Common questions about maintenance

Do you maintain sites or platforms you did not build?

Yes, with a brief onboarding audit. We need to understand what we are inheriting before committing to SLAs. Most inherited projects are straightforward; occasionally we recommend addressing technical debt first.

Is there a minimum commitment?

We work on monthly retainers with a three-month minimum for new clients. This gives us enough runway to understand your project and deliver consistent value. After that it is month-to-month.

What does a maintenance retainer include?

Typically: bug fixes, dependency updates, performance improvements, small feature additions, content updates, uptime monitoring, and a dedicated point of contact. Scope is agreed upfront — no surprise invoices for small tasks.
